New Site for Brighton, the Free-Thinking City in the Heart of Sussex

Categories: Our News

A vibrant and contemporary new site for Brighton & Hove developed by Simpleview reflects the destination’s reputation as a magnet for visitors in search of fun, frolics and fresh sea air.

One of the UK’s top destinations, Brighton is situated in the heart of the county of Sussex and offers a blend of modern culture, exotic architecture, sea and countryside.  Not only does it boast eight miles of beach on its doorstep and a position right in the middle of a UNESCO World Biosphere Region, but it also borders the magnificent South Downs National Park, which is itself an International Dark Sky Reserve. Its proximity to London (one-hour from London by train and a half an hour from London Gatwick Airport) makes it the perfect location for year-round visitors, for both business and leisure.

Visitbrighton.com is recognised as the leading official destination website for Brighton & Hove and is a comprehensive source of tourism information from all sectors of the visitor economy. The new site sets out to support and grow the local economy for Brighton and Hove, replacing Simpleview’s previous site which was developed in 2016 (which replaced Simpleview’s predecessor in 2007).

VisitBrighton approached Simpleview with the aim of growing and developing the success of the existing site and continuing to rank highly on leading search engines for key search terms, whilst increasing the quantity and quality of visitors to the site.

The site incorporates VisitBrighton’s newly refreshed brand identity and features a vibrant, contemporary design and new sophisticated functionality, all supported by Simpleview’s DMS (Destination Management System).

The site’s themed itineraries aim to cater for a variety of tastes, including foodies, families and their four-legged friends.  Providing an ‘Insider’s Guide to the City’, some have been written by guest writers or compiled in-house by the VisitBrighton team.

From big internationally renowned festivals such as Brighton Festival, Brighton Fringe and Brighton Pride to the smaller, less well known, Brighton’s events programme is packed with inspiration for all ages and interests.  The events section of the new site will continue to be powered by Data Thistle (previously The List), providing instant access to events data following its integration with Simpleview’s DMS in 2021. Subsequent to its implementation on the previous site, VisitBrighton achieved a 500% increase in its event listings and page views for the What’s On section more than doubled so the momentum is expected to continue.

Brighton’s geographic location makes it a no-brainer for business meetings, corporate and social events, conferences and exhibitions too.  The Conferences section sets out to meet all the needs of event planners, with ideas for venues, accommodation and social programmes to help to ensure an unforgettable experience and a return visit.

Charlotte Barrow, Senior Marketing Executive at VisitBrighton comments: "We are absolutely delighted with the new website, the inclusion of videos within the large image gallery instantly makes the site more engaging. We always love the new navigation tiles which help to make it easier for visitors to explore the site and discover more of our fantastic businesses."
