A new regional channel site encouraging cycling enthusiasts to explore the route around Norway’s largest lake, Mjøsa, has been unveiled by Simpleview.
Mjøstråkk is 234 km cycling route, varying from easy to challenging and cyclists can choose a starting point, cycle clockwise or anti-clockwise and either do the whole circuit or just parts of the route. The site’s core proposition is that Mjøstråkk is much more than a bike ride around Mjøsa. Travelling on two wheels allows visitors to enjoy the views of the beautiful landscapes, sample the area’s cultural delights along the way and most importantly, take their time.
The channel site resides on the main Visit Innlandet site and is a collaboration involving four DMOs; Visit Innlandet, Visit Lillehammer, Visit Greater Oslo and Hamar Regionen. By combining product information from all four destinations in Simpleview’s Destination Management (DMS), visitors have access to a wealth of resources, both during the planning of their expedition and on-route.
Mapping sits at the heart of the site’s functionality. Visitors can organise their expedition into stages, book accommodation along the way and access ideas and inspiration for things to do and places to stop to refuel and try out delicious local produce.
A key element of the site’s brief was to display detailed information about the stages of the route in an intuitive manner so that visitors can view the exact grading, distance, duration, nature of the terrain and the level of cyclist that it’s suitable for (advanced, family etc.) during the planning phase. In addition, an overview of the route’s stages is presented using easy to view ‘info cards’, with the option to view more detail if required.
An English version of the site will be launched in the future.
Renée Dekker of Visit Innlandet comments: "I am very happy with the support I had during the development process from our local contact, Randi. She was very organised and offered pratical and useful advice. The website itself looks great and the mapping functionality has exceeded our expectations!"
