Visit West has contracted Simpleview to develop a new site for Bath which aims to set a new standard for destination websites and present a year-round visitor offer, inviting visitors to relax, indulge and connect.

Visit West is the newly formed DMO, with a region-wide approach to the promotion of Bristol and Bath.  The city of Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been a wellbeing destination since Roman Times.  The waters, both at the ancient Roman Baths and the modern Thermae Bath Spa (housing the only natural thermal hot springs in the UK that you can bathe in) are a big draw for visitors. Its famous honey-coloured Georgian architecture, straight from a Jane Austen novel, is also a major attraction, not to mention the great places to eat and drink, some of the finest independent shops in the country ,fantastic collection of museums and galleries and a multi-award winning Christmas Market.

The site will position Bath as a major literary and film destination.  The recent hit Netflix show, Bridgerton, was filmed in the city as well as Hollywood greats including Les Miserables, The Duchess and Vanity Fair.  Bath’s exceptional food and drink scene will get a boost, from Michelin star restaurants to its cozy cafes and chilled out bars.  Bath’s varied accommodation offer, including everything from its spa hotels to a thriving self-catering sector will be elevated as the destination recovers post-COVID 19 and Simpleview’s Polling functionality, plus integration with Guestlink will help to increase visibility for availability. The site will also bring together the wider North East Somerset area, taking advantage of its rural landscapes and outdoor activities.

The site’s bespoke, image-led design will reflect the city’s beauty and elegance and its content will set out to unpackage the destination as a whole, not just the city itself.  Content driven navigation, with bespoke, experienced based pages will complement the more traditional Where to Stay, Things to Do site structure.

A proactive strategy to increase visits to the site will generate more traffic for Bath’s businesses and deliver a proposition that they will be compelled to be a part of.

Kathryn Davis, Director of Tourism at Visit West comments: "We are delighted to be bringing the Visit Bath site into the Simpleview structure.  Not only will this make it easier for our team to manage multiple sites and stakeholders, but we can deliver a more content led approach showcasing the very best of the destination experiences.  This will allow us to showcase a more thematic approach to the visitor experience, enabling visitors to learn more about the huge offer that is waiting for them in Bath."

The contract follows hot on the heels of another major project to deliver the main Visit West corporate site, a new Conferences microsite for Meet Bristol and Bath and a microsite for Bristol and Bath’s travel trade.
