New Site to Position Brighton as 'Vibrant, Colourful & Creative'

Categories: Our News

Simpleview has secured a three-year contract to develop a new destination site to support and grow the local economy for Brighton & Hove, one of the UK’s top destinations.

VisitBrighton is the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) for Brighton & Hove.  The city is positioned as ‘vibrant, colourful and creative’, with a thriving culture scene, iconic attractions, great shopping, award-winning restaurants and easy access to the stunning Sussex countryside, including the South Downs National Park, home to the dramatic Seven Sisters cliffs.

The new site will showcase Brighton’s world-famous attractions.  Stretching out into the sea is the iconic, neon-lit Brighton Palace Pier, a stunning example of a Victorian pleasure pier.  In the heart of the city, there’s also the Royal Pavilion, an extravagant pleasure palace which was built for King George IV, who had architect John Nash reimagine it into the domed Indian style palace you can see today. The British Airways i360 tower glides visitors 162 metres high for breath-taking 360 degree views of the city and surrounding coast and countryside. Brighton’s colourful network of shopping streets, known as The Lanes and the North Laine, are awash with vintage gear, antiques and quaint cafes.

The destination received over 12 million visitors in 2019 and tourism contributes an estimated £976.4m to the local economy.

Simpleview developed the current version of the website in 2016 (and its predecessor in 2007). VisitBrighton is now looking to create a new site to grow and build on the success of the existing site, boost performance in search engine rankings and increase the quantity and quality of visitors.

The site will incorporate VisitBrighton’s newly refreshed brand identity, focusing on attracting year-round overnight visitors – both business and leisure – who will visit on weekdays as well as at weekends, with an updated, contemporary design and new sophisticated functionality, all supported by the Simpleview DMS (Destination Management System) which has been core to the organisation and an essential source of tourism information for all sectors of Brighton’s visitor economy.

The site’s events section will be powered by The List, delivering instant access to live events data and providing the destination’s events businesses with a welcome route to recovery. TXGB Ticketing functionality will also boost the visibility and bookability for Brighton’s attractions, experiences and activities.

Charlotte Barrow, Senior Marketing Executive at VisitBrighton comments: "We are thrilled to be continuing our relationship with Simpleview and look forward to launching an updated version of our website which will reflect our creative, free-thinking city."

The new site is expected to launch next Spring.
