10th September 2020

Categories: Our News

You don’t even need to leave the comfort and safety of your own home or office to attend some of the key events in Simpleview’s calendar this year as they’re still happening, but in a virtual format!

TMI Virtual Annual Convention

Simpleview is proud to be the main sponsor for this year’s event which takes place on the 5th and 6th October and is following the strategy of the tourism sector with its Rethink, Reset, Rebound theme.  Originally to be hosted by Tees Valley, the event will be there virtually instead and will feature a pre-recorded study tour which will be shared, with an opportunity to speak to the hosts afterwards.

The event will explore how tourism management should move forward, with contributions from Simpleview’s clients and team members from across the globe, plus a host of fascinating presentations from some of the tourism sector’s most respected opinion leaders.

As part of our sponsorship we will be presenting a session on rethinking your marketing strategy based on data, hosted by our Director of Business Intelligence, Paul McLeod and Director of Business Strategy, Aaron Nissen

The event will also feature the first ever ‘Wine Time’ on the Monday evening, with Rob Paterson, Best Western’s youngest ever CEO sharing some views and stories in a more casual atmosphere.

City Nation Place Congress

This year’s virtual event incorporates City Nation Place UK on Wednesday 11th November and City Nation Place Global on Thursday 12th November.

The UK event explores ideas and solutions for rebuilding confidence in Brand Britain, from the inside out.  A panel of place, tourism and economic development leaders will share their thoughts and experiences on post-COVID recovery planning and a series of Think Tank Roundtable sessions will provide delegates with an opportunity to explore more solutions in small groups with their peers.

Simpleview's round table discussion topic will be:

Connecting stakeholders with your sustainable recovery through stronger digital competencies

In order to build more sustainable destinations after COVID-19, it is imperative that destinations embrace their local communities and the concept of responsible tourism. With lockdown restrictions constantly changing and adapting, the best way to stay connected to your community during this time is to invest heavily into stakeholder engagement and focus on improving your destination's overall digital footprint.

In this session, we will discuss what we can do as destination organisations that:

  • Aligns and engages stakeholders
  • Creates legacy value at the operator level, i.e competencies and digital assets
  • Improves the destination's digital footprint and magnifies the brand

The global event brings together place leaders and experts to focus on how place brands and place marketing can effectively drive the recovery for place and tourism economies.  A series of inspirational keynote speakers and panelists will be sharing their experiences and thoughts on recovery planning and thinking differently for a new world, with an opportunity to drop into virtual meet-the-speakers rooms to dig deeper.

Delegates are able to join different events individually or join as a team to ensure they learn together and get the most benefit from discussion group opportunities. Our Business Development Manager - Europe, Caroline Dawson and David Peacock, the host of Simpleview's Future of Tourism podcast series and well-regarded thought leader in the tourism industry, will be hosting a roundtable for both of the events so we'll be providing an update on the content once it's finalised.

We look forward to catching up with you!
