Simpleview has secured a contract to develop a new destination site which will showcase Greenwich and its unique tourism offer.
Greenwich is proud of its maritime heritage and is home to the Meridian Line (divides the eastern and western hemispheres at zero degrees longitude), Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, the National Maritime Museum and the Old Royal Naval College. The destination also boasts London’s cable car which flies across the river to Royal Victoria Docks and back, plus Greenwich Market, Greenwich Park and The O2 arena.
Greenwich attracts 19 million tourists a year, spending 1.3 billion locally (a 21% growth since 2013) and supporting over 15,000 jobs. Visit Greenwich, a private sector led DMO, aims to grow the visitor economy and raise the profile of Greenwich for the benefit of visitors, residents and its businesses.
The new site will promote the Royal Borough of Greenwich as a visitor destination for the leisure and business market, supporting the DMO in its quest to attract more visitors and motivate them to stay longer, spend more and return with their friends. The site will target the destination’s key markets of millennials, DINKs (dual income, no kids), families and culture/heritage seekers.
Maritime Greenwich will be the site’s core proposition, complemented by the newer, more modern experiences of Greenwich Peninsula, Woolwich’s emerging cultural offer and the attractions of the wider borough.
The site will also emphasise Greenwich’s business tourism offering and position it as the perfect conference destination with the help of stunning imagery, inspirational itineraries and virtual tours.
We look forward to unveiling the new site later in the year.
