Virtual Events Play a Crucial Role in Recovery

Simpleview’s clients have been busy creating virtual events to support their communities and businesses as part of their Covid-19 recovery plans.

The Visit Lake District & Cumbria Tourism’s Virtual Christmas Market aims to spread the ‘shop local’ message and promote the very best of the county’s local gifts.

Running from now until the end of the year, the online event enables a wide range of independent retailers, hotels, restaurants, attractions, cultural venues, creative talents and artisans to sell online and help ‘make it a Cumbria Christmas’ despite the continuing restrictions.

Visitors can make a difference by ordering locally-made gifts for friends, families, colleagues and customers that reflect the very best of Cumbria, or buy vouchers for experiences and breaks to enjoy in the future.

The initiative is part of Cumbria Tourism’s wider #theperfectplacetobe Recovery Marketing Campaign to help tourism and hospitality businesses affected by more than £1.7billion in lost income following the impact of COVID-19 during 2020 so far.

Simpleview’s campaign site for the Peak District & Derbyshire’s Virtual Christmas Market aims to deliver all the fun of the season straight into the home.  The site showcases the best Christmas products from over 100 local producers and suppliers and an opportunity to buy unique gifts while supporting local businesses at a critical time.  From delicious local food and drink to arts, crafts and experiences, the site covers all the reasons to shop local during the festive season.

The campaign site has been developed with a bespoke template but incorporates additional functionality such as sliding featured items and the ability to include video (not live yet) in the main header. 

Leicester’s popular Divali festival was obviously going to be a challenge this year but with Simpleview’s help the city found a creative way to celebrate.  

Leicester has one of the largest Diwali festivals outside of India, with a global reputation inspiring over 40,000 people from across the world to visit to experience it for themselves.

For this year’s festival, Simpleview created a campaign site, featuring an hour-long online celebration using video to help bring people together for an experience that they could share with loved ones and friends throughout the world. The video includes music, storytelling, dance, plus performances and footage of firework displays from previous years to bring the virtual event to a close. The site also includes access to stay at home activity packs to keep the whole family entertained.
