Visit Gloucester is staying loyal to Simpleview’s template solutions and has opted for an upgrade as it takes its visitor site to the next level.

The new Tourism Pro site will replace the existing Tourism Essentials site, originally launched in 2015.  Tourism Essentials is Simpleview’s entry level solution and is suited to smaller DMOs.  Tourism Pro is ideal for more established DMOs that are looking for more sophisticated functionality, dynamic features and visitor touch points to drive bookings.

The historic city of Gloucester is a cathedral city located in the West of England.  Its 11th century cathedral is the resting place of King Edward II and the city’s roots stretch back to Roman times, with 2000 years of history ready to be explored by the visitor.

Gloucester hosts a range of major cultural events and festivals such as the award-winning Glouester Tall Ships festival, the Three Choirs Festival (the world's oldest choral music festival) and the Gloucester History Festival, all of which will be hightlighed on the new site. The surrounding area, including the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and regency town of Cheltenham Spa will also be featured.

Two microsites are also in development.  Gloucester’s stunning architecture has made it the place of choice for many TV and movie producers in the UK and Hollywood so the new Film Gloucester pages will showcase the destination’s portfolio including the upcoming Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, The Spanish Princess, Mary Queen of Scots, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, Dr Who, Sherlock, Wolf Hall and Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone. The Cathedral cloisters were transformed into the hallowed corridors of Hogworts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, attracting Potter fans both young and old from all over the world.

The Meet Gloucester microsite will allow the destination to position itself as the perfect place for conferences of all sizes, with its close proximity to the M4 and M5 motorways and excellent range of residential and non-residential venues.

The flexibility of Simpleview’s template solutions means that Gloucester can opt to incorporate extra functionality such as embedded panoramic videos, the event submission form and blog functionality.
