Simpleview has been tasked with the development of a brand new website for one of the world’s most beautiful and magical destinations, the Outer Hebrides.
The Outer Hebrides are a diverse chain of inter-connected islands located on Europe’s Atlantic edge. Known for their peace and tranquillity, rich history and warm Hebridean welcome, each is diverse with its own unique way of life. Fans of the massive TV hit, Call the Midwife will already be familiar with two of the islands, Lewis and Harris where the 2019 Christmas special was filmed, attracting 5.2 million viewers.
The destination currently attracts around 220,000 visitors per annum, supporting an industry of around 1000 FTE jobs worth an estimated £65+ million to the area's economy.
By redeveloping a site originally created by Simpleview in 2012, Visit Outer Hebrides aim to maximise the destination’s commercial opportunities by introducing online booking and a more proactive approach to membership marketing.
The site will be more visually appealing, with a contemporary design and a combination of imagery showcasing the Island’s rugged, natural beauty but also its people to convey the warmth of its welcome. The site’s content will be consolidated to simplify navigation and deliver a more intuitive browsing experience.
The Hebridean Way, a long distance walking route and cycling route incorporating 10 islands, 6 causeways and 2 ferries, will have a dedicated channel site with its own unique identity and content themed around its abundant offer. The site will also incorporate a set of industry pages to deliver a one-stop-shop for visitors and businesses.
The site is expected to go live in the summer so watch this space…
