Simpleview’s bespoke new website for the African destination of Lesotho has been unveiled, aiming to inspire tourists with a sense of adventure to explore this most intriguing and rewarding of off-the-beaten-track gems.

Completely surrounded by South Africa, Lesotho (formerly known as Basutoland) is a mountainous, landlocked country which is set above 1388 metres, the highest low point of any country in the world. The 3482-metre summit of Thabana Ntlenyana is Africa’s loftiest peak, south of Kilimanjaro.

The site, is dominated by expansive, bold imagery showcasing the destination’s natural beauty with its stunning highland vistas, waterfalls, towering peaks and colourful meadows.  Its design, imagery and motivational content all combine to deliver a compelling proposition for travellers looking for a totally unique experience.

The layout has been designed to emphasise the breadth of activities and adventures on offer. Thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies are spoiled for choice with an abundance of inspiration on things to do, including skiing, mountain biking, para and hang gliding, canoeing and even the world’s highest commercial abseil.  For those looking for more relaxing pursuits, there’s fishing, birdwatching, botany, historical and cultural attractions and plenty of opportunities to sample some great food and drink. 

A series of nine routes covering various modes of travel including pony trekking, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and driving, with downloadable maps detailing attractions along the way, provide an intuitive method of exploring Lesotho’s highlights.

A key objective for the site is to boost awareness of Lesotho as a year-round destination, so access to information by season aims to fulfil the brief. 

The development of the site forms part of a comprehensive digital campaign which is being delivered in partnership with Acorn Tourism Consulting.  A major market research exercise focusing on Lesotho’s key international target markets ie. South Africa, UK, Germany, USA and the Netherlands will inform the destination’s digital marketing activities going forward.
