A new site for Lewes will position the district as a premium tourist destination.
The beautiful county town of Lewes is located in the heart of rural East Sussex. Lewes boasts a significant history dating back to Saxon times and the town’s medieval streets are overlooked by the 1000 year old Lewes Castle. Contemporary art galleries, great shopping with a mix of independent, antique and quirky shops, a rich and varied food and drink offer and an abundance of outdoor activities provides visitors with a whole range of things to see and do in Lewes and the surrounding areas within the district
Earlier this year Lewes District Council's Tourism department made the decision to totally rethink its tourism brand. The old 'Stay Lewes' brand had been around for a long time and the term 'stay' failed to adequately reflect the inclusive positioning that the destination wanted to convey. As Lewes District Council had started successfully sharing services with Eastbourne Borough Council, the tourism department followed suit.
A key objective for the new collaboration was to create some synergy between the council's tourism department whilst still maintaining the sovereignty of each town. As a result, the new 'Visit Lewes' brand identity and logo was created. The old Stay Lewes website was outdated and lacked functionality so the new website will be integral to the roll out of the new brand.
The ever-popular Tourism Essentials solution will be the platform of choice, with a range of optional extras, such as the Don’t Miss and Featured Items functionality for future-proofing and revenue generation, together with the eNewsletter sign up, brochure request, enhanced event form, SEO redirects and integrated blogs features.
Jack Brownell, Destination Manager at Lewes District and Eastbourne Borough Councils comments: "The Tourism Essentials package will deliver everything that we need in terms of functionality, and at a very competitive price. We knew through research that Simpleview continually invests in its website infrastructure so we decided that it was the right partner to take us to the next exciting stage in our evolution."
