Season's Greetings & 2019 Review

Categories: Our News

It’s that time of year again when we reflect on the key milestones of 2019, sit back and give ourselves a pat on the back and thank all our clients and partners for their continued support.

It’s been an ‘interesting’ year as far as the economic and political landscape is concerned but we’re pleased to report that Simpleview will be closing 2019 on a positive note.  Let’s take a look back at some of the key events, successful project completions, new business wins, functionality releases and new partnerships…

More than a name…

2019 was a pivotal year for us as the Tourism Media Group (comprising New Mind | tellUs and NVG) embarked on the next phase in our evolution, rebranding as Simpleview in order to present ourselves in a clear and unified manner across all our global markets.  The teams had the opportunity to integrate with their new friends and colleagues from across North America at the annual Simpleview Retreat in sunny Arizona, Texas in January.  A few months later, the European Retreat was a huge success with the Liverpool office playing host and Simpleview’s global teams converging on the White Star Grand Hall on the City’s famous waterfront.

New beginnings…

The year started with the launch of a new flagship site for the Isles of Scilly, delivering online bookings capability for the first time within a stunning, image-led design.  Following fast on its heels, a new website was developed for Tourism for All, with the aim of becoming the trusted ‘go to’ channel in the UK for disabled travellers, their family and friends.

The launch of our new technical platform for Visit Wales in August improved the presentation and maintenance of product data on the website, enabling tourism businesses across Wales to log into a dedicated bilingual online platform to keep their product information up-to-date.

The West Midlands Growth Company’s contemporary new site was launched to celebrate the area’s eclectic tourism offer, perfectly timed to capitalise on Coventry’s preparations as UK 2021 City of Culture and Birmingham playing host to the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Dedicated language websites have also proved popular this year with our long-term client, Destination Bristol tasking us with the development of a French language site to capitalise on current interest from French speaking visitors.

In Scandinavia, a raft of new development during 2019 aimed to boost the visitor experience for our Norwegian DMOs.  Fjord Norway’s new homepage was redesigned to exploit its spectacular scenery and a series of new channel sites for Visit Telemark, plus a dedicated Telemark Canal site were unveiled. The Norwegian village of Ål also opted for a Tourism Essentials site which will be going live shortly.

In the pipeline…

We were privileged to have the opportunity to add the fascinating destination of Lesotho to Simpleview’s African portfolio. The development of the new site forms part of a major digital marketing campaign, being delivered in partnership with our colleagues at Acorn Tourism Consulting.  We look forward to seeing the results in the New Year.

Our flexible range of web design solutions continue to be a hit with our clients.  Lewes in the heart of rural East Sussex opted for the Tourism Essentials platform to position the district as a premium tourist destination and Colchester's Essentials site is currently in development.  For Visit Conwy, Tourism Pro was the platform of choice to promote the County as a year-round tourism destination and further Pro sites for Stoke BID and Braintree are also in progress. Meanwhile, Visit Eastbourne has decided that Tourism Pro will give the destination everything that it needs in 2020 and beyond.  We look forward to unveiling the finished sites. The upgrades that we released in October are, no doubt, making our web design solutions more attractive than ever.

In 2020 we’ll also be launching new sites for Isle of Man (trade and visitor sites), Lake District, Outer Hebrides and Invest in Leicester too so watch this space...

Glowing SEO testimonials…

As Google continues to disrupt the tourism market, it’s encouraging to hear some real success stories from our SEO clients. We’ll continue to adapt our SEO packages to better suit the needs of our DMOs but so far, the results appear to be speaking for themselves.

Continuous innovation…

Our new interactive maps for Marketing Manchester were launched in March and have been enticing visitors to explore the diversity of Manchester’s boroughs and districts since. The release of the new Auto-Translate feature sets out to be a game changer too, removing all the barriers to developing dedicated language sites by simplifying the translation of product page content.  Our Location-based search functionality has improved the in-destination experience with the addition of the new ‘my location’ and postcode search criteria. The great new ‘Do it Your Way’ functionality for Visit Liverpool has allowed the destination to put visitors in control of how they experience the city.

We’ve made some functionality enhancements to our MailMinder email marketing solution too so that users can now target visitors based on a whole range of data captured from visitors’ web sessions and the Visitor CRM module.  Our long-term client, Visit Dorset extolls the solution’s virtues in our latest case study.

And we can now help Convention Bureaus to work smarter too following the introduction of the Simpleview DMS which allows CVBs to manage virtually every aspect of their business.

We also announced the development of an exciting new application which will allow users to search for UK tourism information via Amazon Alexa and Google Home voice enabled devices.  We’re aiming to have a beta application ready in Q1 2020 so watch this space…

An exciting two-year industry partnership with European Cities Marketing was announced, allowing Simpleview to tap into and integrate best practice from a diverse family of DMOs across Europe.  We look forward to continuing to elevate our support and thought leadership for clients in the region.

Yes, it’s been another busy year!  The whole team at Simpleview would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all the best for a great Christmas and a successful 2020!
