New Visit Leicester Site to Support Economic Growth of Tourism

A new destination site developed for Visit Leicester by New Mind | tellUs sets out to further add value to the 2016 figure of £1.762billion for the tourism sector in Leicester and Leicestershire.  

Created with visitors and residents in mind, will provide an inspirational, high quality mix of content with a focus on key attractions and tourism assets that have the greatest potential to drive investment, attract new residents and increase visitation for Leicester and Leicestershire. The goal is to grow the value of the tourism and hospitality sector, which in 2016 was £1.762billion for Leicestershire and £606.05million for Leicester alone.

This will be done through content marketing linked to original, editorial features of the many unique and distinctive offers in a compelling way to inform and inspire potential visitors to choose the city and county as a destination. The completely redesigned website offers visitors and residents a more user friendly experience with visually appealing imagery and easier access to essential information on the city and county’s range of tourism and leisure offers.

Powered by the robust Destination Management System (DMS) from New Mind | tellUs, the site represents a central hub for the promotion of tourism and leisure assets and a tool to maximise marketing budget, extend reach to domestic and international markets and drive incremental spending once visitors are in the destination.

"Leicester is continuing to grow as a visitor destination, with record numbers of people choosing to spend time in our city," said City Mayor Peter Soulsby. "Tourism is now a vital strand of our Economic Action Plan, generating more than £1.7 billion for Leicester and Leicestershire every year."
County council leader Nick Rushton said: "Tourism across the city and county is on the up. The knock-on effects for the economy in terms of job creation underlines that Leicester and Leicestershire are most definitely open for business."
The new website can be visited from any device and all the functions are available regardless of which device the site is accessed from. In addition to improved design and functionality, the website incorporates an itinerary builder enabling users to create a personalised experience, which can be saved and shared with friends.
