The team at New Mind | tellUs has commenced work on an exciting new project with Go New Forest, the new Community Interest Company responsible for developing and marketing this uniquely “English” destination.

The current version of the site, was originally developed by NVG but the new site will be completely rebuilt using the Tourism Pro Template and powered by the New Mind | tellUs Destination Management System (DMS).

Once a royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror, the New Forest became a national park in 2006 and currently receives around 13.5 million visitors each year.  It covers an area of 566 square kilometres and is made up of vast areas of unspoilt woodland, heathland, river valleys and coast where deer and around 5000 Commoner’s ponies, cattle and pigs still roam free. The area's open heath, clear rivers and shady groves offer a tranquil, car-free haven for walking, cycling and horse riding.

A key priority for Go New Forest is the protection of the forest’s unique commoning heritage and the landscape it has shaped.  The New Forest prides itself on being one of England's “greenest” destinations, not just by virtue of its beautiful National Park but also by ensuring a healthy balance is maintained between tourism promotion and sustainability, championing local distinctiveness including local produce, and helping its businesses to go that extra mile to protect its unique environment.

Guided by these principles, the new website will put the forest first whilst addressing the needs of visitors, the natural environment, residents and local businesses.  Evocative and engaging story telling will be deployed to encourage visitors to step into its magical world and discover the New Forest's arcane charm and natural beauty.  The site will funnel visitors to a huge range of content on the destination’s high quality accommodation, attractions, pubs, restaurants, activities and events.

Chief Executive Anthony Climpson OBE comments: "Our new website and its significantly improved navigation and content will be fundamental in helping to raise the profile of the New Forest as a 'must-visit-now' destination.  It will play an absolutely pivotal role in the destination’s continuing development by presenting a high-quality visitor experience of everything we have to offer, from our great local hospitality, to explaining our cultural heritage helping us all to ensure that tourism continues to be a key component in the wider economy."
