IT Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking an IT Analyst to join an exciting team within the business. Working with a variety of technologies, you will be responsible for supporting the server environment and the office network and the environments of the development teams. You will be based in our head office in Liverpool as part of our Infrastructure Team but you will also be supporting sites across the UK and Norway.

As well as supporting the corporate network, the role will get to learn and support the teams to run the production hosting systems that run over 300 websites for major tourism destinations across Europe. You will work closely alongside the development teams and we are looking for a candidate who understands the importance of teamwork, effective and efficient communication and collaboration.

The role involves responsibly and reliably maintaining Simpleview Europe’s IT infrastructure by providing proactive support of the full operational stack of our infrastructure; from the physical hardware to the applications and support for the teams that develop and maintain the systems, in order to deliver the best possible service to our clients.

Duties and day to day tasks include:

  • Assist with the management of the day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure for the company as directed by the Manager of IT
  • Installing new software and hardware components, including cloud and VMware resources
  • Support of all monitoring tools for the company topology
  • Regularly evaluating IT systems to ensure they meet the necessary demands and security requirements
  • Assist with resolving all issues staff have with their IT systems and associated software
  • Assist the Manager of IT with network and systems administration
  • Work with internal and external clients to resolve tickets/cases
  • Work with internal departments to support website and web application setups and launches
  • Educating coworkers about network security and best practices for computer usage
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance –
  • Server management – IIS support and configuration, implement tools, software updates and processes to prevent problems from reoccurring.
  • Support and develop existing monitoring systems and to monitor the health of the platforms and identify areas that need improving.
  • Assist in the Procurement, inventory and asset management processes
  • Assist in Network security - firewalls, VPN, following security best practices and anti-virus protection
  • DNS, network, hosting, IIS and IP configurations
  • Industry awareness, professional development and a willingness to learn new skills
  • Provide support to the team to manage the external hosting environment
  • Available for On-call technical support after hours
  • Flexible schedule as after-hours maintenance may occur with little to no warning
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager or DNO

You must be enthusiastic and interested in learning about new technologies, and wanting to learn about the improvements they can bring to the business. The role is primarily Windows/IIS focused but does include Linux/Nginx administration.
